Rodina Lahaye sídlí ve slavné vesnici Bouzy v subregionu Montagne de Reims. Vyrábí vína již od třicátých let minulého století. Vinařství vlastní 4,5 hektaru vinic (průměrného stáří 25 – 30 let) situovaných v Bouzy, Ambonnay a Tauxières, které jsou osázené výhradně odrůdou Pinot Noir.
Roku 2003 se Benoît Lahaye rozhodl konvertovat všechny své vinice na « Organic Agriculture ». Ty byly roku 2007 certikovány značkou ECOCERT, jednou z největších certikačních organizací na světě zaměřující se na organické zemědělské produkty. Od počátku roku 2008 nastala další změna a vinařství začíná pracovat biodynamicky. Vinice jsou orány výhradně koňmi a osly, pro boj s nákazami révy Benoît Lahaye používá bylinné infuze, fermentované extrakty z rostlin a esenciální oleje.
Pro tohoto výjimečného vinaře je zcela příznačné, že všechna produkovaná vína spadají do kategorie Extra-Brut nebo Brut nature. Přes 90% vín se vinikuje v malých dubových sudech, z nichž cca 1/3 pochází ze slavného vinařství Château d´Yquem v Sauternes. Benoît Lahaye je dokonce zapsán na listině čekatelů, která umožňuje nákup použitých sudů z Domaine de la Romanée Conti. První sérii sudů z tohoto legendárního vinařství zakoupí již pro ročník 2014!
The Lahaye family is located in the famous village called Bouzy in subregion of Montagne de Reims. They have been producing wine since the 1930s. The winery owns 4.5 hectares of vineyards (on average 25 – 30 year old) situated in Bouz, Ambonnay and Tauxieres which are exclusively planted with Pinot Noir variety.
In 2003, Benoît Lahaye decided to convert all vineyards to organic agriculture. In 2007, they received the ECOCERT certification from one of the largest certification organizations in the world focused on organic agricultural products. Since the beginning of 2008, there has been another change and the viticulture when Benoit Lahaye winery has begun to work biodynamically. The vineyards are ploughed exclusively by horses and donkeys, and to protect Benoît Lahay vines, they use herbal infusions, fermented plant extracts and essential oils.
For this exceptional winemaker, it is quite obvious that all the wines produced fall into the “Extra-Brut” or “Brutnature” category. More than 90% of the wines are vinedified in small oak barrels of which about 1/3 come from the famous Château d’Yquem winery in Sauternes. Benoît Lahaye is even on a waiting list that allows them to buy used barrels from Domaine de la Romanée Conti. The first set of barrels from this legendary winery will be purchased for 2014 vintage edition!
